Atlanta Bronner Bros. Hair Show 2009: The Weave Institute in Full Effect!!!

The Weave Institute by Kim Connell rocked this year's Atlanta Bronner Brothers Hair Show! Arriving at the Georgia Dome, The Weave Institute team had high hopes of publicizing Kim Connell's weave and wig classes and instructional DVDs. During the 3-day event it was exciting to see so many students attend the weave and wig classes. There were three classes over the course of two days: Custom Bonded Wig with Color Placement, From Foundation to Closure and The Anchored Weave. The Weave Institute booth was heavy with traffic after each course. Women and even some men came to purchase the instructional DVD Series and materials to perfect their weave and wig making skills. Silver Spring, Md.- On Friday, October 9, 2009, the DC FOX 5 News aired a segment on the premiere of Chris Rock's new acclaimed documentary, "Good Hair." The consistent buzz about this film derives from Rock's humorous spin on exposing African American women and their weaves. The documentary also has people inquiring about the million-dollar hair weaving industry. In an interview with Salon Obsessions owners, Barry and Kim Connell and client, Erika Barrera, FOX 5 brought the secrets of the booming hair industry to light!

Kim Connell: International Weave Specialist

For the past eight years, Kim Connell has been the owner of Salon Obsessions: The Weave Institute located in Silver Spring, MD. As a custom tailor for over twenty years, eight of those years were devoted to establishing herself as a Master tailor at the high-end retailer, Nordstrom. She was trained to be meticulous in every facet of her work. This innate work ethic allowed her to transform her love of tailoring into the art of weave and wig making. She infuses high quality craftsmanship into even the simplest of designs. Kim conducts weave and wig-making classes at cosmetology schools in Maryland (American Beauty Academy, Aspen Beauty Academy), Washington, DC (The Bennett Institute), Richmond Va.(Beauty Superstars Symposium), Baltimore, Atlanta, Georgia (Bronner Bros. Shows), The Dominican Republic (Glynn Jackson Hair Show) as well as in her own salon.
